Well it's with my deepest condolences that I inform you all that summer is rapidly escaping from our grasp and being replaced with what we consider fall. That short brief moment in time where the weather goes from +30 to a drop of +12 for a couple of weeks before the cold white blanket covers our streets. Throughout this rough time, there is one thing that keeps me going, and that just happens to be FALL FASHION!
We've got so much to look forward to, it's the best season for us in the fashion world! So many different styles to choose from, may that be cardigans, oversized sweaters, jackets, coats, boots, and so much more. If you dare to check out my Pinterest page you'll see all the new trends that are starting to hit our favourite stores. Now I've got a question for you, what are your favourite fall looks? Are you more of a comfy is better people? Do you enjoy being at the top of all of the latest trends? Everyone is different and fashion is such a great way to express yourself that nothing is ever wrong!
"Autumn shows us how beautiful it is to let things go"
Another great thing about fall is all of the festivities that you can take part in, from corn mazes to carving pumpkins, or hanging out at a cute little coffee shop while sipping on the latest autumn inspired drink there's always something for everyone. In Calgary I always find myself trying to come up with new things to do, because it always feels like I've experienced them all. So I've created a list for all of you, that may help you with some of your decision making!
Top 10 things to do in Calgary during the fall:
#1) Taking a drive: This one's probably my favourite fall activity, and that is to take a drive somewhere in the country. Just go and get lost for a little bit, you'll see how much the world is changing around you with the leaves falling down. The crisp autumn breeze, overall I enjoy the drives out towards Black Diamond and Turner Valley. The scenery is so different compared to the bustling around of Downtown Calgary.
#2) Kayben Farms: A fan favourite would be to go and check out all of the activities at Kayben Farms. They've got an event going on currently called Fall Fest, it runs from October 5-26. It's a good place for all ages and includes festivities such as wagon rides, face painting, pony rides, crafts, and many other things to do with family and friends.
October 5- 26
#3) Halloweekend's at Calaway Park: Everyone loved Calaway Park growing up, and now our favourite theme park is getting a Halloween twist! During the months of September to October you'll have plenty of time to meet some of your favourite characters that are roaming the park such as: Batgirl and Harley Quinn on October 12, as well as many more. They also have a Boo Crew Costume Party on September 14th, and 15th from 11:00am- 6:00pm where they will have karaoke, meet and greets with characters and many other activities for everyone to enjoy.
September 7- October 14
#4) Hiking: There are many places where you can hike around Calgary and surrounding areas. Some of my favourite places to go is to Troll Falls, it's a perfect fit for those who are just beginning to hike, and a good place to bring the entire family. At the end of the trail you will hit the waterfalls themselves, and who know's maybe you will find a little ghoulish friend along the way.
#5) Butterfield Acres: At Butterfield Acres this autumn you can partake in the Harvest Pumpkin Hunts. They will take you on a tractor out into the field to go and find yourselves the perfect pumpkin! Be sure to save around 1.5- 2 hours of your time for this activity, that everyone is bound to love!
October 5- 27
#6) Heritage Park: On the Heritage Park website there are many different dates and activities that they have planned for their visitors. Take a step back in time and see how the world once was through this great experience. For those looking for something a little more scary, they are putting on Ghost Tours from September 11- October 16. There are so many things for the whole family to do at Heritage Park that it's definitely an experience I would recommend to everyone!
September 5- October 27
#7) Screamfest: This haunted attraction is being resurrected everyone! As well as since everyone's favourite clown has made his way back to the big screen you can definitely expect there to be a haunted house filled with clowns, and many other surprises that are sure to put you in that Halloween mood!
October 11- 14
#8) Haunted Calgary: If you prefer to head out towards the edge of the city to get all of your scary attractions than head to New Horizon Mall. Here you will find three terrifying attractions, group events, and if you plan on bringing young ones with you there is a low scare zone for all of the family fun.
October 11- November 2
#9) Cobb's Corn Maze: At Cobb's Corn Maze this year they will have many attractions to get you in the fall mood. They will host a Pumpkin Palooza, where you can pick your own pumpkin, take photos, and meet some of your favourite characters. As well as an event for those who want something scary called the Field of Screams, where they will have 5 haunted houses, rides, activities, food and drinks.
October 4- 27
#10) The Halloween Store: Last but definitely not least if you're looking for your perfect costume for Halloween than head on down to the Halloween Store located on the corner near Chinook Centre. Here you'll find any kind of costume that you could ever want. From ghostly creatures to superhero's, princesses, and many more. I'll definitely be swinging by here to gather all of my last minute costume ideas!
I hope this gave all of you some ideas for fun things to do during the chillier months ahead.
